What is Alli?
Alli is a drug that works with your body when you’re trying to lose weight. It targets the fat absorbing enzymes in your body and stops them from working, thereby sending the fat straight through your waste system and not allowing the body to absorb it. Alli is perfectly healthy because it only targets the fat, it still allows your body to digest protein and carbohydrates. Alli is not a “miracle cure” it works with you when you’re dieting. In theory, for every 2lb you lose on your own, you will lose an extra 1lb through Alli.
How much should I take?
The recommended dose is 60 mg (one capsule) taken with each meal that contains fat, up to 3 times a day. It is best if you take Alli with the meal, but you can take it up to an hour after the meal, if necessary (taking it later will make it less effective). If you skip a meal or eat a meal without fat, you should skip your Alli dose.
What are the side effects?
Alli does have side effects but not all people suffer with them. The most common side effects associated with Alli are wind with or without oily spotting, sudden or more frequent bowel movements, fatty or oily stools and loose stools. These side effects are also known as diet-related treatment effects, as they are often caused by what you eat and by the way Alli works. If you follow a low fat diet, it is unlikely you will experience any problems. However, if you eat too much fat you increase your chances of experiencing these side effects.
