How’s it work?
Generic Avodart’s ingredients are a type of medicine called a “5-alpha reductase inhibitor”. It works by stopping the action of a compound in the body called 5-alpha reductase. This is responsible for converting the male hormone testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is a more active form of testosterone.
Avodart is approved for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). Not to be mistaken with prostate cancer, BPH is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate glands. However, it’s widely suggested that the enzyme responsible for prostate growth is the same that’s responsible for male pattern baldness. Therefore, Avodart is being used as treatment for hair loss in men.
It’s believed Generic Avodart is a more successful drug for treating male pattern baldness than propecia as it suppresses both enzymes thought to be responsible for male pattern baldness, with propecia only blocking one. Avodart is becoming more and more popular in the treatment of male hair loss.
Who can take it?
Avodart is produced specifically for MEN. Women should not take the drug under any circumstances.
How much should I take?
Avodart as hair loss treatment should be taken in a dosage of 1mg per day. This should be the same time every day (first thing in a morning or last thing at night).
What are the side effects?
Very few people suffer side effects from taking Avodart for hair loss (1mg a day). Rare side effects include erectile dysfunction and loss of libido. If you suffer any side effects please visit your Doctor.
